William Makepeace Thackeray's The Irish Sketchbook (1843) is a travel book about the author's travels across Ireland in 1842. He depicts the poverty in Ireland prior to the famine and describes the Irish landscape, the towns, and the transportation system at the time, as well as the geographical features of the land. He describes life in Kildare, Wicklow, Cork and other areas.
