Kathy Allen has published over one dozen books for children. She has previously worked as an editor and in marketing for children's library book publishers. She has a B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota. Allen lives with her husband and their son in Minneapolis.Each of these volumes narrow down the topics, and contain multiple illustrations, timelines, charts, or text boxes. Although written by several authors, all follow the same format and style that creates a series that is engaging, colorful, interesting, and informative. Students will appreciate the quick facts as well as longer passages of more intensive information. The books reference new research as well as older documented facts, but they are woven together in a page-turner style that can be used by several different reading and maturity levels. Recommended.
