Biographical note
John Carman is a lecturer in the Archaeology Department of the University of Cambridge and co-editor (with Anthony Harding) of Ancient Warfare (Sutton Publishing, 1999). Patricia Carman is a historian, archaeologist and teacher.
By investigating the sites of historical battlefields, this book shows that an insight can be developed into the minds of those who fought, and into some of our own expectations about war.
