Biographical note

Erik Peek is Professor of Business Analysis and Valuation at Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University, the Netherlands. Professor Peek conducts research in the areas of financial analysis, accounting and valuation, earnings forecasting and international financial accounting. He has published articles in major academic journals including, among others, Contemporary Accounting Research, the Journal of Business Finance & Accounting, the Journal of International Accounting Research and the European Accounting Review. Prior to joining RSM, Professor Peek was an Associate Professor at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. He has been a Visiting Associate Professor at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He received his doctorate from VU University Amsterdam in 2001 and has been a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charter holder since 2002. Paul Healy is the James R. Williston Professor at the Harvard Business School. His research covers a broad range of topics, including white collar crime, governance, business ethics, financial analysis and Wall Street research. He joined the HBS faculty in 1998, after fourteen years on the faculty at the M.I.T. Sloan School of Management, where he received awards for teaching excellence in 1991, 1992 and 1997. He received accounting and finance degrees from Victoria University in New Zealand (1976 and 1977) and a PhD. from the University of Rochester (1981). He has published widely in the leading academic and practitioner journals and has received numerous research rewards. He has taught MBA and executive courses on accounting, financial analysis, corporate boards and ethical leadership. Krishna G. Palepu joined the faculty of the Harvard Business School in 1983. He is the Ross Graham Walker Professor of Business Administration and Senior Advisor to the President of Harvard University. Professor Palepu was a Senior Associate Dean at the Harvard Business School for several years, overseeing the school's research and its global initiative. Professor Palepu's current research and teaching activities focus on strategy and governance. Professor Palepu has published numerous academic and practitioner-oriented articles and case studies on these issues. He has served on a number of public company and non-profit boards. He has also been on the Editorial Boards of leading academic journals, and has served as a consultant to a wide variety of businesses. Krishna Palepu is a researcher at the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and a fellow of the International Academy of Management. Professor Palepu has a master's degree in physics from Andhra University, a post-graduate diploma in management from the Indian Institute of Management Calcutta, a doctorate in management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an honorary doctorate from the Helsinki School of Economics and Business Administration.
