Biographical note

PETER B. LEVY is an Associate Professor in the Department of History and Political Science at York College of Pennsylvania. He is the author of numerous books and articles, including The Encyclopedia of the Reagan-Bush Years (Greenwood Press, 1996), America in the Sixties—Right, Left, and Center: A Documentary History (1998), The Civil Rights Movement (1998), 100 Key Documents in American Democracy (1999), and Let Freedom Ring: A Documentary History of the Civil Rights Movement (Greenwood Press, 1992). He also serves as the editor of the Greenwood series Shapers of the Great Debates. He is currently completing a case study of the civil rights movement in Cambridge, Maryland, and is investigating the question, What can one do with a history degree?
