"A word from Granny Jane: "The grandmother-grandchild relationship ought to be one of the richest and most rewarding of your life. Even the best grannies, though, sometimes encounter difficulties, and The Good Granny Guide is intended to help you deal with them - an informal companion, to be dipped into whenever you need inspiration or just feel a bit stuck."

Biographical note

Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall, a loving and closely involved grandmother of four children, has gathered firsthand tips from other grandparents, from grandchildren and their parents in many different situations. Their collective experience adds up to a vast resource of wisdom, history and humour, all incorporated into a delightful handbook - covering everything from childcare troubleshooting to what NOT to say to the daughter-in-law. Jane Fearnley-Whittingstall has written many books on plants and gardening, including Gardening Made Easy (Weidenfeld & Nicolson) and Peonies: The Imperial Flower (W&N). She is the grandmother of four young boys and the mother of TV chef Hugh, and lives in Gloucestershire.
