Biographical note

Roger McGough is one of the iconic ‘Liverpool Poets’ who came to national prominence with the publication of The Mersey Sound in 1967. McGough is also a broadcaster, children’s author and playwright. He is the presenter of the BBC Radio 4 programme Poetry Please, a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, President of the Poetry Society, and was awarded an OBE in 1997. He is known for his sharp humour and perfect comic timing.
