For more than a century emigrants from Lebanon have been establishing communities throughout the world. This book is concerned with those Lebanese who have settled in North and South America, the Caribbean, Australia, West Africa, and other parts of the Middle East. The essays have been written by historians, economists, sociologists and political scientists. They evaluate the impact of Lebanese settlers on host societies, processes of integration, the economic political and cultural aspects of settlement, and the relations they have maintained with the home country.
