The multilateral development finance world has evolved dramatically since the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund were established 70 years ago, and continues to change at an accelerating pace. In addition to the recently established Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank and the BRIC's New Development Bank, there is now a plethora of different development finance actors, institutions and mechanisms. All these changes have implications for the traditional multilateral development banks and for the Nordic countries' positions and roles. The book discusses the possibilities and limitations, opportunities and challenges in this changing landscape, and intends to trigger a wide debate. The authors have from different roles, positions and perspectives dealt with these issues over the last four decades.
