KIERAN FLANAGAN is a Reader in Sociology at the University of Bristol. His publications include Sociology and Liturgy: Re-presentation of the Holy (1991) The Enchantment of Sociology: a Study of Theology and Culture (1996) and he is co-editor (with Peter C.Jupp) of Postmodernity, Sociology and Religion (1996). - PETER C. JUPP is a Visiting Fellow in the Department of Sociology at the University of Bristol. A United Reformed Minister, he is currently minister of Peterborough Westgate Church. He is co-editor (with Kieran Flanagan) of Postmodernity, Sociology and Religion (1996), (with Glennys Howarth) Contemporary Issues in the Sociology of Death, Dying and Disposal (1996), (with Tony Rogers) Interpreting Death (1997) and (with Clare Gittings) Death in England: an Illustrated History (1999).
