An exciting and informative book about race car drivers for children ages 4 years and up.
“This delightful little book will surely be a hit with younger kids. With simple terms and language the author describes what it takes to be a successful Formula 1 race car driver, a race that is very well-known all around the world. The author describes how a driver prepares for a race with the proper fireproof gear to wear (even his underwear), how he painstakingly studies the circuit and finally she describes the big race day itself. Slegers depicts an exciting event drawing crowds in the thousands that ends up with the winner of the race receiving a well-earned huge trophy and joining in on a happy celebration party that rewards all his team's efforts and very hard work. Well done everyone! Kids will learn new vocabulary from the more advanced words introduced to the reader which is always a good thing. The technicalities of a race that the author has included will draw kids into the story and the fun, child-like illustrations that are vibrantly coloured and full of action drive her message home. What is that message? It is that being a race car driver is challenging and very hard work. The euphoric feeling that successful drivers experience as the black and white checkered flag waves in the breeze pumps them up to do it all over again in the next up-coming race. Race on….” - Storywraps “Liesbet Slegers has done it again…. Racing, cars, fun illustrations! The book is all about racing, mostly about Formula One. I don’t really have much with the Formula One, or at least the races (too boring + too much noise, even on tv), I just love the cars and love seeing new cars pop up in the world with each new race. Plus I love finding out more about how the races work, and what is happening during a race. Most of the things in this book weren’t new to me, though I did learn that the drivers have a straw inside of their helmet to allow them to drink! I like how the book was at first a bit of a manual on what Formula One is, but then moves on to training, exercises, various days of the Formula One. Like on day 2 there is a time trial. The next day is the race. The text is all easy and well-written. I am sure kids will love this book. Not only does it have fun information about races/Formula One, but it also has cute illustrations that show various things from races/Formula One! I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. If you like Formula One/racing be sure to check this one out.” - Twirling Book Princess PRAISE FOR LIESBETH SLEGERS' PILOTS AND WHAT THEY DO: "This book does a great job of teaching your toddler what a pilot does. Biographical note

Liesbet Slegers (1975, Belgium) studied Graphics and Illustrations at the Saint-Lucas institute of Antwerp. She works as a fulltime graphic designer and illustrator. With her simple, recognizable style and vivid colours she knows how to attract the attention of every toddler. I try to help them with my books,” she added, “and also try to give the parents or teacher some assistance!”
