Biografisk notat

Dr. Khoa D.V. Huynh, Senior Geotechnical Adviser at NGI, Norway, has over 20 years of expertise in geotechnical engineering, specializing in foundation design and natural hazards like landslides, subsidence, and erosion. He has wide management experience, serving as a project manager, research scientist, and journal reviewer. In addition to his role at NGI, Khoa is the Director of the Energy and Marine Network at the Association of Vietnamese Scientists and Experts (AVSE Global), where he leads initiatives to foster collaboration and innovation among Vietnamese scientists and experts in the energy and marine sectors. 

Dr. Hong Doan is Geotechnical Specialist at TotalEnergies and responsible for geotechnical activity for the development of offshore energies at global level. He has more than 16 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering and foundation installation, including 15 years in the offshore energy sector. This includes a wide experience (i) as Practicing Geotechnical Engineer, working on projects related to foundation design and soil-structure interaction analysis, including offshore soil investigation, advanced testing techniques, advanced numerical techniques for monopiles, jackets, jack-up rigs, pipeline, subsea structures, and supervision of foundation installation; (ii) as Technical Lead and Package Manager within site characterisation, design and construction process for the development of offshore infrastructures. He holds a Ph.D. and master’s degree in geotechnics, both from Ecole des Ponts ParisTech, France. 

Dr. Tri Mai is Lecturer of Coastal and Offshore Engineering at the Hanoi University of Civil Engineering. He has over 20 years’ experience in combination of teaching, research, and consultancy works in marine hydraulic engineering, marine structures, coastal protections, and fluid/wave-structure interactions. He has experience in doing physical experimental investigations in marine structures and fluid/wave-structure interactions. He completed his Ph.D. in Coastal and Offshore Engineering from University of Plymouth, United Kingdom.

Phil is Shell Professor of Offshore Engineering and Director of the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub on Transforming energy Infrastructure through Digital Engineering (TIDE) at the University of Western Australia. He is a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering and of the Institution of Engineers Australia, and current Chair of ISSMGE Technical Committee 209 ‘Offshore Geotechnics’. Phil is passionate about aligning industry and academia to solve challenges facing the offshore sector and training tomorrow’s generation of geotechnical leaders.
