Biographical note

Tayeb Salih, a native of Sudan, was one of the most acclaimed of contemporary Arab writers. In 2001, Season of Migration to the North was selected by the Arab Literary Academy in Damascus as the most important Arab novel of the twentieth century.

The late Denys Johnson-Davies published more than twenty-five volumes of stories, novels, plays, and poetry translated from modern Arabic literature.
