Biographical note

Dr John Wall is a railway enthusiast and historian who has made a detailed study of the early railway system, in particular the network in the north of England. A former education lecturer, he is a keen photographer and a former director of the National Photographic Record. For many years the Stockton to Darlington line has been his major research interest.
