Biographical note

Dr Islam was trained at the Royal Postgraduate Medical School, Hammersmith Hospital, London, England, under the renowned haematology professors D. A. G. Galton, John M. Goldman and Daniel Catovsky. While there, he researched bone marrow structure in human leukaemia, which earned him a PhD degree from London University, England. He obtained his membership and fellowship in haematology from the Royal College of Pathologists in the United Kingdom. Because of his significant work in leukaemia and bone marrow investigation, he was invited to Roswell Park Cancer Institute, where he continued his work with Edward Henderson, MD, Chief of Medical Oncology.
