The purpose of any information system is to support the activities of an organization. Therefore it is necessary to have a good grasp of information technology aspects related to information systems as well as the business characteristics and needs the technology should serve. This volume offers selected papers presented at the ICEIS '99 conference, aimed at bringing together active researchers in information systems and practitioners.
