Political science and other researchers from Europe, Australia, Chile, and the US present 10 essays on protest, social movements, and global democracy since 2011. After a review of key events and dimensions of these protests, essays address anti-austerity protests, Occupy Wall Street, the Bulgarian Summer 2013 movement, opposition to mining in Armenia, the Lyon-Turin Railway and No TAV movement in Italy, the student movement in Chile, religion and political activism in post-revolutionary Tunisia, Turkish media representation of the Gezi Park protests, and Bahrain's uprising.
