Biographical note

Nils-Johan Jorgensen was born and educated in northern Norway. He attended the universities of Heidelberg, Exeter, Oslo and Oxford and was research fellow at the Norwegian Institute of International Affairs. As a career diplomat he served in Brussels, Copenhagen, Harare, Tokyo, Bonn and Dar es Salaam. He received the St Olav's Order in 1997.
