This early work by Richard Marsh was originally published in 1900 and
we are now republishing it with a brand new introductory biography.
'The Chase of the Ruby' tells a thrilling tale of a mysterious
oriental figure who pursues a British politician to London, where he
wreaks havoc with his powers of hypnosis and shape-shifting. Richard
Bernard Heldmann - better-known by his pseudonym, Richard Marsh - was
born in England in 1857. He was educated at Eton and Oxford
University, and began to publish short stories shortly after
graduating. He published his first novel, The Mahatma's Pupil, in
1893, and went on to produce almost twenty more.
