The cultural and historical significance of design makes connections with every aspect of the modern world. From the way we interact with products and architecture, to how design can preserve and sustain a future yet to be seen, design is embedded in everything we do. This series responds to this in four key ways:

To expand and enrich the ways the agency of design is viewed historically.

To broaden the geographical and cultural scope of design in bost the modern and ancient world.

To contribute to the development of historical and contemporary design studies.

To encapsulate the many connections design must make in the modern world and explore their siginifance to the trajectory of the discipline.

Each of the titles in the series will offer a much needed new perspective on design, combining to broaden and develop our understanding of the past, present and future of design.
