Biographical note

Jan used to be a teacher and Sara used to be a midwife. They discovered that they both wanted to write children’s stories and that it was more fun doing it together. If one of them is stuck for an idea, the other usually comes up with something or makes a cup of tea. They drink a lot of tea. Jan used to be a teacher and Sara used to be a midwife. Monique is a Jamaican-born illustrator residing in the small pocket of reality between time and space (also known as Miami). After receiving her BFA in illustration from Ringling College she made a professional start as an Illustration resident at Buzzfeed. She continues to draw, focusing on historical costuming, magic, and women in power. When not drawing, she’s deeply mired in pop culture, refining her spicy foods palette and lamenting no longer living the “island girl” lifestyle.
