Biografisk notat

Prof. Dinesh Kumar Singh, Ex-Head, Department of Zoology, DDU Gorakhpur University, Gorakhpur, U.P., India is actively engaged in the study of molluscan physiology, biochemistry and snail control for four decades. He has successfully isolated and identified pure molluscicidal compounds from more than three dozen medicinal plants and observed their mode of action on snails at the cellular level. His work is recognized internationally in the field of formulation and use of synthetic and biopesticides for integrated vector management. Prof. DK Singh has the honor to act as the referee for the Third World Academy award sponsored by TWA, Italy. He is recognized as a member of the international fasciolosis control team of WHO. His expertise for controlling snails has been sought by scientific bodies in the Philippines and African countries. Prof. Singh has published 217 full research papers and 17 review articles in 112 journals of international repute. Out of 217 papers, he has published 22 full papers on garlic. He has written five reference books and three book chapters. Recently, in 2021, he published a book entitled Fasciolosis: Causes, Challenges and Controls with Springer Nature and a chapter, "Phytochemestry of Sapindus mukrossi and Medicinal Properties", in Medicinal and Aromatic Plants of the World in the Encyclopedia of Life Support Systems (EOLSS), developed under the auspices of the UNESCO-EOLSS Publishers, Paris, France. He has produced 27 Ph.D. graduates and successfully conducted 17 research projects funded by various scientific agencies: UGC, CSIR, DBT, UPCST, DST and ICAR, India. Prof. Singh is a fellow of the Zoological Society of India and the Academy of Environmental Biology. He is a life member of national and international academic societies and an editor and reviewer of various international journals. His research team reported, for the first time, a nucleotide sequencing of Fasciola gigantica and their larva cercaria (GenBank accession number KT149356 and KT149357 for cercaria larva and F. gigantica, respectively. Dr. Devesh Pratap Singh is working as Associate Professor of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Gorakhpur, U.P., India. He has published 25 papers in journals of international repute and has ten years of experience in medical teaching, as well as in interventional pulmonology.
