Diabetes Mellitus: Target Enzymes and Drugs highlights the importance of different targets in lead drug discovery and the importance of the synthesis of lead analogues. The book discusses the role of target enzymes, receptors, and related drugs in diabetes mellitus that are necessary for research on improving solutions for diabetes care. This unique resource provides information about all enzymes or receptors involved in diabetes pathophysiology to help describe target enzymes and potent antidiabetic drugs to improve patient care. This type of research is needed for the understanding of the effects of drugs in order to improve future treatments and care of patients with diabetes.

Dr. Manisha Nidhar is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Amrita School of Pharmacy, Kochi, India. She completed her B. Pharm in the year 2011 from IPS College of Pharmacy, Shivpuri Link Road, Gwalior (M.P.). She obtained M. Pharm in Pharmaceutical chemistry from School of pharmacy, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore Purge from cachein 2013 and Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical chemistry from Department of Chemistry, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, in 2022. Dr. Manisha Nidhar has several publications in peer reviewed journals and has presented her research work in national and international conferences. Her research areas of focus are in computer-aided drug design and synthesis of novel bioactive molecules as antidiabetic agents and DPP-4 Inhibitors. Since graduating with a PhD in medicinal chemistry from the University of Lucknow, Dr Tewari has developed extensive experience in both academic and industry settings, including work as a Research Associate at both The Indian Institute of Technology and the Central Drug Research Institute, as a Research Scientist at New Chemical Entity Research, and his current role as Assistant Professor in Chemistry at Banaras Hindu University, where he has framed the syllabus and supervised numerous PhD students. He has published over 40 research papers in respected international publications. Dr Tewari’s major field of research is Molecular Recognition and Medicinal Chemistry, with emphasis on the synthesis of bio active molecules, flexible molecules with aromatic back bones and synthesis of foldamers in order to study aromatic interactions. His research group’s aim is to understand the mechanism of aromatic interactions, and they are actively working in the synthesis of pyrazole, imidazole, pyridone, and pyridazine systems, where they have produced some particularly interesting results relating to solid state eclipsed and staggered stacked conformations.
