Printable sensors on flexible substrates are popular areas of research due to their inexpensive fabrication and the ability to integrate multi-sensing devices on a single substrate. However, to develop effective and usable systems, integration of sensing devices with external electronics is also important. The development and use of printable sensors and electronics is expected to grow and although significant efforts are made by the research community to explore new sensing devices on printable substrate just as much effort is required to explore the interfacing of electronic circuits to printed and flexible sensors. This book will cover the topics related to design and fabrication of sensors on printable flexible substrates, with the main emphasis on the requirements of interfacing circuits for the flexible sensors. Different sensing phenomena have been used for fabricating the printable sensors such as (i) capacitive (ii) resistive (iii) imperfect capacitors (iv) piezoelectric (v) magnetic etc. Topics related to interface these printable sensors will be discussed. KEY FEATURES: * First book with a focus on interfacing flexible sensors * Comprehensive topics on different types of flexible sensors for sensing applications * Selection of materials, design of sensor structures and fabrication of the flexible sensors * Interfacing circuits for a range of flexible sensors including capacitive and imperfect capacitive sensors, resistive sensors and others * Extensive incorporation of case studies
