Lisa Godsey, MID, has been a practicing interior designer for over 30 years. She has been involved with interior design education for 20 years, as an instructor and recently as an Interior Design Department Chair for a CIDA-accredited program. A registered interior designer and LEED AP, she has served two accrediting agencies as a site visitor reviewing interior design programs across the US. She has also served as a juror for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification (NCIDQ). She is the author of two textbooks that cover material which helps prepare students to take the NCIDQ.Written from the viewpoint of the working designer, Interior Design Materials and Specifications, Fifth Edition, describes each material’s characteristics and shows students how to evaluate, select, and specify materials, while considering code compliance, building standards, human needs, and bidding processes. Students will learn how to communicate with suppliers and vendors to achieve the results they envision and how to avoid some of the pitfalls common to material selection and specification. Through case studies based on real-life situations, Interior Design Materials and Specifications reflects the most recent material technologies and contemporary awareness on industry movements. The fifth edition engages students in larger picture thinking with a particular attention to globalization, user experience, and sustainability.
