Helen Skelton began her career presenting iconic children's shows Newsround and Blue Peter, where she took on some incredible challenges such as the Namibia Ultra Marathon, cycling to the South Pole, and kayaking over 2,000 miles down the Amazon River.
Helen has gone on to present shows of varying focus, from Countryfile, On The Farm and Holiday Hit Squad to the Rugby Super League, Olympics and FA Women's Super League. She is a regular guest presenter on ITV Tonight, Lorraine and Steph's Packed Lunch and is also the host of the new-look BBC Radio 5 Live Sunday morning show.
In 2022, Helen reached the final of Strictly Come Dancing, and the following year took part in the Strictly Come Dancing Tour 2023. She lives in Cumbria with her three children.
Helen Skelton is no stranger to doing hard things, from kayaking the entire length of the Amazon to competing in a boxing match for Sports Relief. Life has come full circle. From growing up on a Cumbrian farm, kayaking the Amazon, cycling around the South Pole, getting into a boxing ring, waltzing across the Strictly ballroom floor, and presenting television all over the world, I am happy to be home.
It has taken twenty years, but it's time to own my story, take a trip down memory lane and share some of the lessons I have learned along the way.
In My Stride is about putting one foot in front of the other, laughing when you want to cry, discovering your inner courage, knowing the importance of community, and finding freedom against the backdrop of life's peaks and troughs.
