How does a firm anticipate and respond to changes which occur in its environment? What is involved in planning and implementing a business strategy which allows a company over time, and under different conditions, to maintain and improve upon previous success? This study presents ten case studies of ten different international firms and their individual approaches to the problem of strategic change. Furthermore, these empirical studies are complemented by ten chapters of analysis, which aim to develop a general framework for discussing strategy development and implementation. Several themes emerge from this collection, including: the meaning of strategic vision; the relationship of such vision to particular and distinctive firm competencies; organizational learning as a source of information; and the phenomenon of corporate renewal.
