This book, first published in 1969, discusses objectively the tragic
wartime position of Poland, having both the Nazis and Soviets as
enemies – the war opened with the country being invaded by both. The
book examines the work of the Polish underground army (Home Army) and
its cooperation with SOE in providing intelligence of German movements
– plans for attacking the Soviet Union, and experiments with V2
rockets. It also gives special attention to the Warsaw Rising and the
political and military problems connected with it.
