Human Impacts on Wild Birds

Wild bird populations are smaller now than they once were due to a variety of human activities. Birds and their feathers, eggs, and nests have been collected. Some species have been hunted. Many suffered from pesticide use and have nearly gone extinct. Protections like the Migratory Bird Treaty Act are now in place and conservation groups have supported the recovery of many species’ populations. Everyone can make changes around the places they live, work, and play to be more bird friendly.
