Biographical note

Jorge Humberto Chavez was born in Ciudad Juarez, on the US/Mexican border in 1959. Since 1980, he has published eight collections of poetry in Mexico, the current volume being the most recent, as well as being the winner of the prestigious Aguascalientes National Poetry Prize in 2013. His work has been translated into several languages and books have appearedin English (a selected poems in the U.S.A. in 2003), French and Italian. A major career retrospective volume is due to appear from Ediciones Vaso Roto (Monterrey & Madrid). Chavez also founded the Chihuahua International Festival in Ciudad Juarez, founded and coordinated the international writers' meetings, Literature en el Bravo, and curated the International Literary Festival in San LuisPotosi.
