Nora Haenn is associate professor of anthropology and international studies at North Carolina State University. Eric Johnson is assistant professor of bilingual/ESL education at Washington State University, Tri-Cities. Mary Grace Buckwalter is an educator at Carl Sandburg Middle School in Levittown, Pennsylvania.Over the years, I've mentored many novice assistant professors on the challenges of teaching in the college classroom. Their first year is often fraught with an array of predictable roadblocks and pitfalls. <i>The Teaching Road Map: A Pocket Guide for New Teachers</i> provides a thoughtful way in which novice teachers can reflect on the broader issues of teaching and how they impact everything from classroom delivery to assessment. This will become my standard gift for all my graduating doctoral students.
