<p>"The selected topics are quite good. I like the fact that the book does not deal too much on the chemistry of the microorganisms and the overall biohydrometallurgical process mechanisms, (which have all been dealt with significantly in past books) but deals more with the application in the mining and metals extraction industry, the focus on the residues from industry and on the environmental remediation."<br />—Sehliselo (Selo) Ndlovu, School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering, University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa<br /><br />"The book covers various aspects of microbes in environmental remediation in the mining industries. It elucidates [a] good interdisciplinary relationship between microbiology and the metal / mineral science."<br />—Pratyoosh Shukla, Ph.D., Department of Microbiology, Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, India</p>

This book disseminates the interdisciplinary relationship, some explored and some yet to be, among microbiology and the inorganic world. It studies the genesis of microbiology in the metal world, the various physiological aspects behind their existence in such a turgid environment, their applications in the mineral sector, metal extraction, and material synthesis. A major part of this book emphasizes the importance of microbes in environmental remediation in the mining industries from core deep ground sample processing to utilization of discarded raw materials, and synthesizing products.
